Drummers of the Forest-Woodpeckers

Even if you don't hear the familiar drumming on tree trunks, the sharp, high-pitched calls, or catch a glimpse of their swift glides between branches, there's something about being in the forest long enough — a subtle shift, a quiet tension in the trees — that lets you feel the presence of a woodpecker. Sometimes a little eerie, but most often, quite a delight.
